Luke Bryan and his wife Caroline were college sweethearts and married in 2006. Luke’s music career also took off and he shot to stardom. But the couple’s life hasn’t always been so magical, considering the string of losses they’ve suffered, including recently. Sadly, losing a loved one isn’t anything new for Luke and Caroline…
To start at the beginning, Luke and his siblings grew up in rural Leesburg, Georgia, the kids of a dad who sold fertilizer and a mom who worked for the local public utility company. He spent his days in school, playing baseball, hunting and fishing
At the age of 14, Luke picked up a guitar for the first time and, inspired by his volunteer role as youth group leader at his church, Luke would update country songs by adding Christian lyrics.

By age 17, Luke had put together a band. But three years later in 1996 when he was ready to move to Nashville, Luke’s older brother Chris died in a heartbreaking car accident. He decided he wasn’t leaving his mom after his brother had just died, so he remained in college, then started working for his dad’s business. Eventually, his parents encouraged him to pursue his dreams in Nashville.
Then shortly after Luke and Caroline were married, Luke’s sister Kelly passed away in 2007. Seven years later, Luke’s deceased sister’s husband Ben Lee Cheshire died suddenly, leaving behind the couple’s three children. Luke and Caroline took in the youngest nephew still living at home, Til, while raising their own two young sons. Luke told People Country that the loss of his siblings deeply impacted him.
“Losing my brother changed me tremendously and losing Kelly, even more. I literally do not take one second for granted.”
Recently, the family suffered another devastating loss. Caroline Bryan’s brother Bo Boyer and his wife Ellen had given birth the summer of 2016 to a beautiful little girl named Sadie Brett Boyer. She was born with cardiac issues and battled a host of side effects, including kidney damage, liver damage and infections. She spent a considerable amount of her short life in the hospital.

We thank all of you for your prayers. Love y’all.
The Boyer family also expressed their thanks for the “overwhelming amount of love and support” everyone had shown them. Ellen said while the family had come close to losing their precious little girl numerous times, her spirit and fight made them believe she would survive the challenges that had been thrown her way. Our sincere sympathies are extended to the family.
