On March 16th, 2016, mom Mary Glasure went in for an appointment with an oncologist. Mary had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, and had undergone tests to see if the cancer had spread as well as learning about what to expect during chemotherapy. Of course, she was overjoyed when she learned that it had not spread and to hear doctors say they expected she’d knock out the cancer in just a few months. As great as that news was, Mary had no idea the best was yet to come!
In the video below, a doctor in full surgical gear walks into the room where Mary sits with her family. “I have a lunch appointment I need to get to,” he says. Confused, Mary turns to her family and shrugs, “Okay?” she laughs. Then, the “doctor” pulls down his surgical mask.
Immediately, Mary bursts into tears when she sees her son’s face. Her son who has been away in the marines for two years!
Mary’s daughter, Ciera, posted a video of the moment with the following caption:
Biggest surprise for my momma! She got her test results today for if her cancer has spread and that appointment went fantastic! While at our chemo teaching she had to see one last person before we left to talk to her and who better than her son Corey Hoffmaster disguised as a doctor, who hasn’t been home in nearly 2 years because he’s serving in the military! Thanks Teramana Cancer Center for making this possible!
It was a truly beautiful moment for their family, but now the video is touching hundreds of thousands of people across the web!

And even more good news for Mary: on October 20th– 7 months after Ciera posted the original video– Mary posted on Facebook saying she is cancer free!
