The bald eagle is the national symbol for the United States. They are majestic birds of prey that can be found living across North America. The number of nesting pairs of bald eagles has rebounded in recent years. Of course, we all know that they are not actually bald. According to the National Geographic, the name comes from an old English word, “balde” which means ‘white.’
If you have ever seen a bald eagle in person, you are lucky.
The zoo where I live has one – they are impressive. Jessie Peek, an Alaskan fisherman, not only has seen bald eagles in the wild – he feeds them! In the video below, you will see Jessie feed a group of bald eagles.
Jessie said that seeing the birds is just what happens in Alaska.
