Popeyes Cashier Couldn’t Afford Nursing School, But 30 Second Conversation With Stranger Changed Everything.

First impressions can lead to life’s biggest blessings. That was certainly the case for Shajuana Mays, a Popeyes Kitchen employee from Kansas City, USA. Mays spent 30 seconds talking to former policeman Donald Carter while at work, but that was all it took for Carter to make a decision that would change her life forever.

While at the counter, something about Mays’ countenance prompted Carter to ask the young woman about her hopes for the future. It turned out that Mays dreamt of going to nursing school, but the cost for her admission was simply too high.

Carter chewed on their conversation while relaxing at home when “this thought just dawned on me: What if I pay for the girl’s school,” Carter explained.

Carter took to social media to crowdfund Mays’ nursing school’s $1,500 tuition.

“I figured if I could get about 300 of my Facebook friends to put up $5 each, we could do it no problem,” he wrote on the page. “I’d do a Facebook Live broadcast presenting her with the gift if we pulled it off. Just a random act of kindness from a few hundred strangers.”

Carter’s random act of kindness spread like wildfire and donations for Mays and her future just kept pouring in. Within weeks, Carter’s $1,500 goal had been exceeded to the tune of $13,000.
