After Tom Ford Refuses To Dress Melania, Donald Trump Makes 1 Phone Call And Gets Revenge

President-elect Donald Trump recently responded to comments designer Tom Ford made about his wife, Melania Trump, and how he would refuse to dress her for the inauguration.

Ford first spoke to Elle magazine about dressing the incoming first lady, saying he felt it would be inappropriate to do so.

“Whoever is the president, or the first lady, should be wearing clothes at a price point that are accessible to most Americans, and wearing clothes made in America,” he said at the time. “My clothes are made in Italy, they’re very, very expensive. I don’t think most women or men in our country can relate to that, and I think the first lady or the president should represent all people.”

Ford made his comments while appearing on ABC’s “The View” in November 2016, also adding that he didn’t feel Melania Trump fit his image.

“I was asked to dress her quite a few years ago and I declined. She’s not necessarily my image,” said Ford, who voted for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

In an interview on Fox News show “Fox & Friends” on Jan. 18, Trump denied claims his wife asked Ford to dress her, saying she “doesn’t like” his designs.

“Tom Ford is an example. ‘I will not dress the first lady.’ He was never asked to dress — and Steve Wynn just called me and he said he thought it was so terrible what Tom Ford said, that he threw his clothing out of his Las Vegas hotel,” he said, Daily Mail reported.

Wynn Las Vegas later confirmed Trump’s claim to the Daily Mail in a statement, saying: “Wynn Las Vegas confirms it removed the Tom Ford line of cosmetics and sunglasses from the resort this past weekend.” The resort does not have a Tom Ford store and does not sell the designer’s clothing.

Many readers defended Melania Trump, saying they were looking forward to having her in the White House.

“Melania is beautiful, classy and elegant. What a lovely First Lady she will make. I can’t wait!” one Daily Mail reader commented.

“Wow! Compare the First Lady to the incoming First Lady and well……there really is a dazzling difference. Melania is simply stunning!” another added.
