How many conversations with customer service departments have you actually enjoyed? If you’re anything like me, the answer is none. Normally something has gone wrong and the business in question, tends to be unsympathetic and difficult to deal with.
When Wes Metcalfe contacted Tesco customer service after finding a worm in his packaged cucumber, things quickly took a turn… for the hilarious. Wes’s ‘complaint’ wasn’t so much a grievance as an attempt at humor… but his quirky interaction quickly went viral in the best of ways.
Next time you feel the need to call up a company’s customer service department, remember Wes and his long lost buddy, William the worm.

When Wes Metcalfe found a worm in his cucumber, he wrote to Tesco to ‘complain.’
“We decided to name him William,” he wrote. “Our new pet appeared to be very unresponsive.”
Rob from Tesco customer care replied shortly after, and his “genuine” response was hilarious.
Metcalfe then sent Rob a funeral update which included a ode of his own.
William’s funeral was full of friends and fancy.
