When Jack Robinson was only four years old, he left his twin brother, sisters, mother, and father behind. In January of 2014, Jack was diagnosed with a brain tumor and before his fifth birthday he had tragically passed away.
It’s been three years since Jack passed, but his mother, Marie, visited his grave on April 1st to commemorate the anniversery of Jack’s death. As she approached the grave site, Marie spoke aloud four words that changed her life forever.
With a trembling voice Marie asked her late son to ‘show mommy a sign.’ The moments that followed were unforgettable.
Check out Marie’s account of what happened seconds after she asked the desperate question below.
“A little robin kept flying around me trying to land on me, eventually landing on my foot – he didn’t seem scared at all. He went and sat on a nearby headstone so I got my phone out to film him being close to me and he flew over and landed on my hand.”
“He kept looking at me directly in my face and at one point he landed on my shoulder and nibbled me a couple of times.”
The normally shy bird was so blatantly unafraid of Marie that she knew… the robin had to be the very sign she asked for from Jack.
“Yes it brought me to tears. I’m taking it as a sign from Jack.”
Whatever you believe about this moment, a grieving mother has a sense of peace after an unlikely encounter gave her hope again. Was it somehow a sign from Jack? Who can say. All we know is that little red robin did more for Marie’s heart in that moment than any words ever could.
