Ernestine Shepherd was never an active person or fitness guru. In fact, for most of her life she didn’t even like physical exercise! That is until she and her sister decided to get in shape when she was 56 years old.
As they worked out together the two of them fell in love with aerobics and started doing different sports competitions. In 2010, Ernestine even made it into the Guinness World Records Book for being the oldest female bodybuilder.
Now Ernestine is
celebrating her 80th birthday, but you would never know it to look at her! She has the body of a person a quarter of her age (if that person was in really good shape)!
Keeping her body in such great shape isn’t always easy, but for Ernestine it’s worth it. She starts each day at 3 a.m. by meditating, then goes out for a jog. At 8 a.m. she starts her personal training, and she makes sure that she never goes to bed any later than 10 p.m.
Nutrition also plays a big role in Ernestine’s health. She’s been married to her husband, Colin, for 60 years and she loves cooking for him and their family. Her diet consists of rice, chicken breasts, chestnuts, cereals, and eggs, and she makes sure she drinks tons of water.
Ernestine is living proof that you are never too old to get healthy or to start going after what you want.
