A Michigan mother was more than horrified to hear the blood-curdling screams coming from her child while her daughter was out jumping on a trampoline. Unfortunately, things would only get worse as she realized that the 11-year-old girl had been shot — but nothing would prepare her for when she began to investigate and saw what else was there upon closer look.
It all started when 11-year-old Morgan Kuiper went behind her Jamestown Township home and began to jump on her trampoline. Although she’s done that several times in the past, things took a tragic turn as she felt a striking pain and realized that her entire left arm had gone numb.
As the girl’s mother, Missy Kuiper, would later explain, the entire family came running when they heard Morgan let out a “panicked scream.” Missy went on to say that they didn’t know what happened at first, but once they saw the little amount of blood that came out, they immediately rushed her to the hospital.
Much to the family’s surprise, doctors would explain that Morgan had been shot and needed surgery to remove the projectile that was still inside her body. However, that’s when things took a turn – and it was one for the better.
It would later be revealed that Morgan was rather lucky, considering the circumstances. In fact, beyond the scar she’ll have, it doesn’t look like there will be any lasting damage outside of the initial time it takes to recover.
Oddly enough, the relieved mother has since come forward to share what else was there at the moment her daughter was shot – God. “It was something that will never happen again, and we believe that God directed that bullet to go to her but into the right spot that nothing was damaging,” Missy Kuiper went on to say.
As police always investigate gunshot wounds that come into the hospital, it wasn’t long before they got a few leads. According to Morgan, she told officers that she had heard a few firearms going off just prior to her painful experience.
Come to find out, a few people were shooting guns at a rate “more rapid than usual,” according to neighbors. “The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says it has located three people who were shooting in the area,” NBC WOOD TV8 went on to report. “The case is being forwarded to the prosecutor’s office, which will decide if any charges should be filed.”
At this point, no arrests have been made, leading people to believe that this was nothing more than a freak accident. However, Missy states that something so much more came out of the incident than they could have ever imagined.
As the bible reads in Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” When it comes down to it, God protects those who love and honor Him — and that was certainly proven to be the case here with Morgan.
