A girl poses for a school picture. Thirty years later, her boyfriend notices something on the left corner that leaves him speechless.

Do you remember who your best friend was when you were in kindergarten, before you started elementary school? If so, do you know what happened to him or her? Most of you probably answered no to both questions. But in the case of Amy Giberson and Justin Pounders, they know exactly where their best friend is.

It was 2014 when Justin was looking for a partner through an online dating website. Suddenly his heart skipped a beat when he saw a picture of a girl named Amy. He was immediately attracted to her and luckily for him, the feeling was mutual. When he called Amy for the first time, the chemistry between them was incredible.

Their first date went so well that Amy knew then and there that Justin was the man she would marry. She knew that this was more than just a lighthearted crush — somehow she felt that she had known Justin all her life. They started dating and over the period of a year things got more serious. Then one day, they discovered something that shed a whole new light on their relationship and explained why they got along so well.

Justin told Amy that as a kid he had liked a girl in his class who was also named Amy. They continued talking about the subject and learned that both had gone to the same kindergarten. They both thought about it, but they knew it was still very unlikely. They went to visit Justin’s mother, who actually remembered that he always played with a special little friend. When she dug out an old photo album, all doubts were cleared.

Do you see them, in the group photo below on the left? Look closely…

In the class picture, Amy and Justin were sitting side by side! Justin’s mother told them that they had always sat together at lunch and spent hours together on the playground. Thirty years later, destiny had reunited them again. “It’s unbelievable that our journey started much earlier than we thought,” says Amy.

Now Amy and Justin are married and spend every day together, just as they did 30 years earlier. After all those years they now sit together again for lunch, but this time in their kitchen rather than in the kindergarten dining room. And they also spend hours together outside — in their backyard, not the schoolyard. We all look for that special friend who can make us as happy as we were when we were children — and in the case of Amy and Justin, that happens to be the same person!
