We love baking! It seems like just about every weekend, we are making homemade breads, cookies, and this time of the year, all kinds of sweet treats. Sure, the holidays are over and “technically” our diets have “started”, but it is so cold outside.

Anyway, we just stumbled upon an awesome new cake recipe, and this is going to quickly become one of your favorites. By the way, it has an extra special ingredient that makes it completely unique. Read on to find out how to make your new best cake recipe, your friends and family will love you almost as much as they do this cake.

To make this cake, you will need three cups of all purpose flour, three cups of white sugar, two and a half sticks of butter, five eggs, two tablespoons of lemon juice, two tablespoons of lime juice, two teaspoons of vanilla extract, the zest of one lime and one lemon, and one cup of 7-Up soda. For the glaze, you will also need two cups of powdered sugar, one tablespoon of lime juice, and one tablespoon of 7-Up.

To begin, preheat your oven to 350 degrees and grease and flour a bundt pan very liberally. When you are done greasing it, grease it again. No kidding, this bundt pan has got to be really well greased.

Start by mixing the butter and sugar for about two minutes, or until light and fluffy. Then add in the eggs one at a time, beating well between eggs. Add the lemon and lime juice, zests, and vanilla extract. Next, begin to add the seven up and flour a little at a time. Your aim should be a very thick and rich batter. Now pour the the batter into the bundt pan and bake for about sixty to seventy minutes, or until it passes the toothpick test. Once it is done baking, remove it from the oven and let stand in the bundt pan for another twenty minutes or so, until has cooled a bit. Then transfer it to a cooling rack. Now it is time to make the glaze: simply whisk the ingredients in a bowl and drizzle on top of the cake. Allow the glaze to set before cutting and serving this amazing cake.

This lemon-lime-soda cake will have your friends and family eating out of the palms of your hands, but sometimes we want a little darkness in our lives, so we thought we would share another simple cake recipe for the more sinful times.

Here’s what some people have to say about the recipe:

“thanks for posting. We all learn differently, THERE’S NO right or WRONG way. I use regular flour, and SEVEN UP, (but as I stated, no wrong way to do this YES, I ALWAYS EAT the batter (have been all my life & I’m HERE to talk about it) LOL I’m NOT familiar with Bakers Joy. I use PAM or CRISCO and spread it around the bundt pan. 🙂  I don’t use flour, just Pam, but I’ll give i a TRY”

“Lol, I used sprite making my cake this Christmas (by choice) and it was delicious. Wanted to switch it up….it came out good!!!”
