Single Mom Faced Backlash For Delivering 8 Babies At Once. 7 Years Later, She’s Made Big Changes

Natalie Suleman, a.k.a “Octomom,” made headlines around the world when she gave birth to octuplets in January 2009, six males and two females, via IVF treatment.

The Suleman octuplets are the second full set of octuplets to be born alive in the United States. They surpassed the previous worldwide survival rate for a complete set of octuplets.

However, backlash began when Natalie admitted to living on government assistance and already having six young children. At the height of her fame, and as a single mom with 14 kids to raise, Natalie appeared on magazine covers and television shows like Dr. Phil and The Oprah Winfrey Show.

In 2012, Inside Edition visited Natalie’s home and found a “chaotic mess.” Her children had all but destroyed the house. But four years later, Natalie appeared on the show again. This time, the circumstances were much different.

In the clip below, Natalie reveals why she decided to turn things around for her and her family. She turned to stripping and pornography to provide for her 14 children, but realized she needed to stop when she saw her daughter playing with one of her outfits.

Now, Natalie wants to completely do away with “Octomom” and wants to be known by her real name. “I had to kill Octomom to save my life,” she told DailyMail. “No one hates the Octomom more than me.”

Natalie says her octuplets, who are are now seven years old, are happier than ever — and that she currently works as a counselor.
