‘Innocent’ Pic Viral After Shocked People See What’s Hidden In Plain Sight

Dejah Hall posted a selfie on social media, like she had countless times before, not thinking much of it other than wanting to share what she was doing. However, practically overnight, it went viral after shocked strangers saw the public post along with what her 4-year secret hidden in plain sight in the shot.

As the proud mother of a beautiful 18-month-old girl, Dejah is no stranger to the selfie as she loves sharing pictures of herself with her daughter. One of her most recent photos was far different from the rest upon closer look when people who didn’t even know her saw what she had been hiding the last four years when it showed up in the shot, and they couldn’t believe their eyes.

The gorgeous single mother from Glendale, Arizona looks to be living a pretty average life, and in many ways, one that strangers may be envious of. However, behind her beaming smile, beautiful eyes, and long blonde hair is someone completely unrecognizable. The person in the picture today is different than who Dejah was four years ago as an intervenous heroin, meth, and cocaine user on the edge of death until she walked into a bathroom one afternoon.

On December 6, 2012, Dejah stopped by her grandpa Rich’s house for a visit. The first words out his mouth when she sat down was not hello, but instead, he said, “You’re hurting me Dejah.” She was terribly addicted to everything she could get her hands on and was high at the time she stopped by, as was typically the case for her. She walked into his bathroom after hearing his admission and couldn’t believe what she saw in the mirror.

“I went to the bathroom, and I looked at myself and I really looked at who I had become. This disgusting person who needed to continue to stick these drugs in their veins because I couldn’t function,” Dejah told ABC 15. This “disgusting” person was also the one in pictures from four years ago, including a mug shot where she’s unrecognizable after being picked up by federal agents for her felony warrants, just a couple of hours after looking in the mirror.

Dejah went to prison that day, which marked the start of her journey to sobriety and has never looked back even though it hasn’t been easy. She’s been clean ever since having found God in that jail cell and surrendering her life to Him. “With the help of God I am completing my BA and hope to one day be a prison minister,” she wrote in the now viral post on Love What Matters. Dejah’s big message to the addicts and the people who they are hurting with their addiction is that “sobriety is possible.”

The photo she posted recently is a shocking comparison to the pictures of her from her drug days. It’s proof that there is a beautiful, happy person underneath that drug-ravaged exterior hiding from others who desperately want to see that person.
