When this New Yorker mother went into labor with quadruplets, she did not expect what would happen to her or how quickly the doctors could get the babies delivered.
Chris and Katie Muchard had been trying to have children for quite some time, so the couple had opted to fertility treatments. One of the biggest factors into doing these treatments is to know that you can easily conceive more than just one baby. One or two babies is one thing, but the two never could have imagined four children!
Though that can be a lot to handle for some, Chris and Katie were so excited to finally start their family together and were ready to take on taking care of their newborns. Katie’s due date was set for January 18th, 2016.
At 30 weeks pregnant, the unexpected happened. Katie started to experience serious pain, so she was immediately taken to the hospital, where she was convinced that she had a blood clot in her leg. This was not the case however, doctors at the hospital found that Katie was having issues with her placenta, which was not good since she had four children on the way. So they did what they needed to, and told Katie she would need to deliver her children through a C-section.
What shocked doctors the most? It only took four minutes to deliver the four newborns. They couldn’t believe it! Chris and Katie’s largest baby weighed 3 pounds, 10 ounces, where the smallest weighed only 1 pound, 15 ounces.
The babies were healthy but they were so tiny and premature that they clearly needed to be kept in the Intensive Care Unit for quite some time.
Thankfully, the Chris and Katie were able to take their newborns home, where Katie posted to Facebook, “Thank you everyone for all the well wishes on our babies! I just was able to experience the greatest thing in life meeting my babies for the first time and seeing their dad light up changing their diapers!”
It looks like these two, are going to have their hands full!
